The Utilities module is the heart of the LibCode Suite program, and it is here that you protect and maintain your database. The resource database is one of the largest databases in your organisation, and replacing it would cost thousands of dollars. For this reason, you, as the Librarian / Resource Manager, need to become familiar with the functions within the Utilities module.
These include:
- Standard backup to back up to hard drive (includes housekeeping).
- Alternate backup to backup to network drive.
- External backup to backup to Zip, Thumb (USB) drive, CD-RW etc.
- Global update facility for bulk data editing.
- Stocktake administration, reports, reconciliation and culling facility.
- Administrative reports e.g. Shelf, audit and basic acquisition lists.
- Spine Label printing.
- Borrower Barcode printing.
- Production of Buffer files for changing loan periods, culling and random printing of spine labels.
- Setting up to three levels of passwords to restrict access to software modules and functions.
- Inloading and Outloading data (most notably SCIS data inloading).
